Help Shape Research on Physical Activity and Transition Planning

A University of Georgia study invites eligible educators to share perspectives on physical activity-related transition goals for secondary students with IEPs.

How do we help students with IEPs stay active beyond school? A University of Georgia research study is seeking educators’ perspectives—and eligible members of the Just Adapt It community are invited to participate.

Doctoral candidate Jaepyo Sim, working with Dr. T. Nicole Kirk, is studying how educators discuss, document, support, and follow up on physical activity-related transition goals for secondary students with IEPs. These goals connect movement, fitness, mobility, recreation, sport, or physical activity routines to preparation for adult life.

Who can participate?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are 18 or older.
  • Currently work, or previously worked, in special education, case management/transition coordination, or PE/Adapted PE in a U.S. middle school, high school, or school-based secondary transition program.
  • Have taught or supported a secondary student with an IEP.

Middle school educators: If your most recently completed qualifying school year involved only middle school grades, secondary transition planning must have begun or been required for at least one student you supported that year.

What does participation involve?

The online questionnaire takes approximately 15–20 minutes. Participation is voluntary, and you may skip questions or stop at any time.

Participants may opt in to a drawing for one of ten $25 virtual UGA Participant Prepaid Visa Cards. Drawing entrants must currently reside in the United States. Full details are available on the study information page.

Share your experience

At Just Adapt It, we want to help connect research with the everyday experiences of educators. If you meet the eligibility criteria, please consider sharing your perspective—or passing this invitation along to a colleague who may qualify.
