Who Is Research For?

A short anonymous survey about research and real-world practice in Adapted Physical Activity and Adapted Physical Education. Takes 4–5 minutes.
There is a lot of research being conducted in Adapted Physical Activity and Adapted Physical Education — but how much of it actually reaches practitioners?
This short confidential survey explores how professionals access research, where they get information that influences their practice, what prevents research from reaching the field, and how practitioners might play a greater role in future research. It takes about 4–5 minutes, and you can fill it in right here on this page.
What the survey covers
- About you — role, years of experience, professional setting, country.
- Accessing research — how often you read peer-reviewed work, how confident you are finding it, and what gets in the way.
- Where you actually learn — journals, colleagues, conferences, podcasts, social media, AI tools, and which single source most influences your practice.
- From research to reality — whether a study has changed something you did, how easy findings are to translate, and which formats you would actually engage with.
- Practice to research — how connected research and practice feel, past involvement, and how you might contribute to future studies.
- Who is research for? — two open questions: what researchers could do differently, and the one question from your practice you wish someone would investigate.
Why this matters
The purpose of this project is not to criticize researchers or practitioners. It is to better understand what happens between producing knowledge and using it in the real world.
Research can inform practice. Practice can inform research. Understanding both sides may help us build a stronger connection between them.
Please do not include student names, school names, or other identifying information in written responses. By continuing, you confirm that you are 18 or older and voluntarily agree to participate. Everyone who completes the survey is entered into a draw for prizes from the Just Adapt It store.
