Drew Gatto, a passionate Adapted Physical Education (APE) teacher with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), is making waves in the world of fitness for individuals with disabilities. As the creator of Inclusive Gainz, a functional strength training website tailored for students with disabilities, Drew is redefining the boundaries of inclusive physical education. His initiative bridges the gap between adapted fitness and real-world functionality, empowering students to thrive both in the gym and in their daily lives.

The Journey to Inclusive Fitness
Drew’s expertise stems from a strong educational background, including a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from SUNY Brockport and a Master’s degree in Adapted Physical Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. While completing his graduate studies, Drew developed Inclusive Gainz as a capstone project to address the unique needs of students with disabilities. His vision? To promote independence, functional movement, and lifelong health through adapted fitness.
More Than a Teacher: A CrossFit Coach with a Mission
In addition to his role at FCPS, Drew is a dedicated coach for the Uniquely Abled CrossFit program at CrossFit Burke Unleashed. Here, he uses his certification from the Adaptive Training Academy to deliver safe, effective fitness programs in inclusive environments. Through universal design principles, Drew empowers neurodivergent teens and individuals with disabilities to build strength, confidence, and community.
A Collaborative Future for Adapted PE
As Drew embarks on his first year as an APE teacher, his work exemplifies the transformative power of physical education. Whether in schools or CrossFit gyms, he is creating spaces where every individual, regardless of ability, can achieve their fitness goals.
From Inclusive Gainz to his work at CrossFit Burke, Drew Gatto embodies the principles of Adapted Physical Education: inclusivity, empowerment, and the joy of movement.
