MS1: Fitness & Conditioning

In the Fitness and Conditioning unit for middle school students, we will explore the five key components of fitness: cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition. Throughout this unit, students will engage in various lessons and activities to understand the importance of physical fitness, develop essential fitness skills, and apply their knowledge to a culminating activity—a Spartan Race obstacle course.

Unit Objectives:
By the end of this unit, students will be able to:

  1. Define and explain the five components of fitness.
  2. Identify strategies to improve each component of fitness.
  3. Demonstrate proper techniques for exercise and conditioning.
  4. Recognize the importance of a balanced fitness routine.
  5. Apply their knowledge and skills to complete a Spartan Race obstacle course.
