Objective: To develop understanding and skills in floor hockey through game progression from 2v2 to 3v3, finally advancing to 5v5, focusing on teamwork, strategy, and individual skills.

Warm-Up (10 minutes):
- Dynamic Stretches: Lead students through dynamic stretches focusing on legs, arms, and core.
- Basic Skills Refresher: Quick drill on passing, shooting, and dribbling to warm up and refresh basic skills.

Activity 1: 2v2 Mini-Games (15 minutes):
- Setup: Divide the gym into small courts using cones. Each court hosts a 2v2 game.
- Instructions: Teams of two play against each other, focusing on passing and positioning. Encourage quick passes and movement.
- Rotation: After each game (5 minutes), teams rotate to play against different opponents.
Transition (5 minutes):
- Discussion: Reflect on the 2v2 games. Discuss the importance of communication and space utilization in small games.
Activity 2: 3v3 Mini-Games (15 minutes):
- Expansion: Slightly enlarge the playing area for each court to accommodate an extra player per team.
- Instructions: With the addition of one player, emphasize the role of defense alongside offensive strategies.
- Rotation: Continue with 5-minute games, rotating opponents to ensure varied gameplay.
Transition (5 minutes):
- Skill Focus: Briefly discuss how adding players changes the dynamic of the game. Highlight effective strategies seen during the 3v3.
Activity 3: 5v5 Full Game (15 minutes):
- Setup: Use the full gym or designated large area. Set up one or two games depending on class size.
- Game Play: Implement a full 5v5 game, incorporating all floor hockey rules.
- Focus: Encourage students to apply skills and strategies from the 2v2 and 3v3 games, emphasizing teamwork and spatial awareness.
Cool Down (5 minutes):
- Stretch and Reflect: Cool down with stretching. Discuss what students learned from the game progressions, focusing on the development of teamwork, strategy, and individual skills.
Assessment:
- Observe students’ ability to adapt to different game sizes, focusing on their use of space, communication, and teamwork.
- Assess individual skills like passing, shooting, and dribbling, as well as strategic understanding of the game.
This lesson plan allows students to gradually adapt to the complexity of larger team sizes in floor hockey, enhancing their skills and strategic understanding of the game in a structured and fun environment.
