In this session, I explored how pickleball can be adapted to create truly inclusive physical education experiences. Pickleball is fast-growing, easy to learn, and most importantly—it’s highly adaptable. That makes it an ideal fit for inclusive and adapted PE settings.
Throughout the presentation, I shared practical, hands-on ways to modify the game for students with diverse needs. We looked at paddle drills, balloon-based progressions, assistive tech like ball launchers, and low-cost tools like Velcro, zip lines, and hover hits. I also showed some of my favorite custom creations, including DIY paddles, switch-activated launchers, and sensory-rich setups.
At the core of it all is the belief that inclusion isn’t about putting students in a space—it’s about making sure they feel connected, accepted, and supported. These adaptations aren’t just about access; they’re about helping every student engage in a meaningful and empowering way.
If you’re looking for ideas that go beyond typical modifications, this session is packed with creative ways to make pickleball (and physical education in general) more inclusive and student-centered.
