Greetings! I’m Melissa Bittner, Chair of NCPEID’s Policy and Advocacy Committee. This post is part of our ongoing advocacy outreach focused on adapted physical education.
MyPhysicalEducator.com, curated by Brad Weiner, Adapted Physical Education Coordinator in Fairfax County, Virginia, is a comprehensive website designed specifically to support adapted physical education teachers. The site offers a wide range of tools, lesson plans, and professional development resources to help educators deliver engaging, standards-based physical education programs for students with disabilities.
The goal of MyPhysicalEducator.com is to empower teachers with practical, field-tested resources that promote lifelong fitness, physical literacy, and wellness for all learners.
A Deep Library of Practical Resources
One of the most valuable sections of the site is the Resources tab, particularly the Documents and Forms collection. This area serves as a true “gold mine” for adapted physical education professionals and includes:
- Sensory processing assessments
- Early childhood assessments
- Assessments for students with significant support needs
- Lists of accommodations and modifications for IEPs
- Lesson plan templates
- Referral and authorization for assessment forms
- Triennial assessment reports
- Parent resources
- Sample assessment reports
- Data collection examples
- End-of-year evaluations
These tools support educators throughout the entire special education process—from referral and evaluation to instruction, progress monitoring, and reporting.
Behavior Interventions and PBIS Strategies
Another standout area of the site is the Behavior Interventions section. This includes a three-part series developed by Brad Weiner that clearly defines Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) within the context of adapted physical education.
The resources focus on proactive strategies related to:
- Environment
- Instruction
- Student-specific needs
These materials help teachers reflect on what can be modified or adjusted to increase student success, engagement, and positive behavior during physical education.
Video Library for Significant Support Needs
The Videos tab features an extensive collection of activity demonstrations and modification ideas, particularly for students with significant support needs. Educators will find videos showcasing activities such as:
- Skee-ball adaptations
- Bubble tennis
- Scarf flyer activities
- Adapted bowling
- Equipment modification ideas
The site also links to outstanding external resources, including Christy Ross’s YouTube channel, further expanding the library of practical visuals and instructional support.
Worksheets and Student-Facing Materials
Finally, the Worksheets section offers student-friendly materials that can be used as reinforcement, homework, or instructional supports. Topics include:
- Physical education and adapted PE concepts
- Muscles and body systems
- Parts of the heart
- Orienteering and hiking
- Bocce assessments
- Self-defense
These materials provide additional ways to reinforce learning beyond the gym and support collaboration with families.

Whether educators are searching for curriculum guidance, assessment tools, behavior strategies, or innovative activity ideas, MyPhysicalEducator.com serves as a trusted, educator-created platform that supports high-quality adapted physical education across settings.
This website exemplifies how thoughtfully curated resources can elevate practice, strengthen instruction, and ultimately improve outcomes for students with disabilities.
